Nvidia RTX 4080 Super Review

Here we re-test three titles using both DLSS 2 and DLSS 3, to give you an idea of the performance on offer from Nvidia's upscaling technologies.

Enabling DLSS 3 Frame Generation in Cyberpunk 2077 sees the frame rate increase from 28FPS, up to 50FPS, at the cost of higher latency, averaging 86ms. DLSS 2 Quality actually offers higher frame rates than just Frame Gen, but using both together nets a frame rate north of 80FPS, while latency comes in at 57ms.

Hitman 3 shows another big improvement to frame rates when using DLSS, as we hit 57FPS and 53FPS when using Fame Gen and DLSS 2 Quality, respectively – the main difference is latency, which is about halved when using DLSS 2. Combing both features results in 82FPS on average, and latency a touch below what we saw at native resolution.

Lastly, Spider-Man Remastered sees similar results, with DLSS 2 Quality boosting frame rates to 111FPS while reducing latency, compared to native. DLSS 3 Frame Gen on its own gets up to a similar frame rate but with twice the latency, while using DLSS 2 plus Frame Gen increases FPS to just below 140, with latency at 47.6ms.
